Manifesto, Never Forgive Action & EYE WEEKLY present a special edition of the famed event series Hip Hop Karaoke at Revival Bar, with guest appearances and an all female DJ lineup downstairs in the Stone Lounge featuring Killa-Jewel, DJ SARASA, DJ Dalia, DJ Ariel & Mel Boogie.

I must admit it was a fun night, and it’s always good vibes when the top ladies in the biz get together. Upstairs, it was hilarious to see Indie Rock White boys give their best rendition of Biggie’s “Gimme da Loot” but the novelty grows old very quickly. For the record, however, I would have liked a reversal: the amazing DJs UPSTAIRS and the amateur emcees downstairs. These ladies are world class talent and deserve the shine and if not, at least a proper sound system. I propose for the year 2009…less ALL FEMALE SHOWCASES, and more female representation all around.
One Love to DJ SARASA a.k.a. Silverboombox all the way from TOKYOOO for throwing down the yummy dance chunes that kept the people bumping all night! Another treat was watching DJ KILLA JEWEL of Montreal represent. I’ve heard her name in circles for ages, but it wasn’t til I saw her do her thing in person that I watched a fellow veteran in the game showcase the talent behind the buzz.
